ATHLETICS
It has been a very busy term full of
outstanding results and individual achievements. The Regional
Athletics Carnival was held at Homebush Athletics Stadium. We had 12
athletes qualify for this carnival.
Out of the 12 athletes Auburn Girls
had two students qualify for the CHS carnival. The two student
athletes were, Maryann Faalavaau in yr 12 who is also Auburn
Girls High Sports Captain for 2006. Maryann came 2nd in
the 17yrs+ Shot put at the Regional Carnival. The other student that
qualified for CHS, unfortunately as a reserve was Amer Achiek
in Yr 10 who gained a 3rd in the 15yrs 1500m.

AMER DOES IT AGAIN!
Earlier in term 2 Amer Achiek
also qualified for the CHS Cross country which was held at Mt Druitt.
Amer Achiek came 5th at these championships in the 15yrs
age group. This was an excellent result against the best cross
country runners in NSW.

A big thankyou to all students who
have represented Auburn Girls so far this year, not just in the
Championship sides but also in the teams that have become runners up
or have just had a go. You have all displayed great sportsmanship
and teamwork to other schools in the Prospect Zone. Keep up the
great work girls!
A big thankyou to the teachers who
have coached these teams- Mr Bailey, Ms Shiel, Mr Van Helden, and Ms
Purkiss.
TUESDAY
SPORT
Tuesday Sport is for students in
years 7, 8 and 11. Students have experienced a wide range of
activities in this time ranging from touch, table tennis to
community service.
It is great to see so many students
enjoying themselves and experiencing new sports. The next rotation
will be in Term 4.
Improvements are also being made to
the school during this time. Ms Dumaine and her recycling group
alongside Ms Wilke and Ms Lam with their yr 11 gardening group
have planted some beautiful plants around the water tank and in
those places which were a little bare. This is becoming a beautiful
area. Every girl at Auburn Girls should do their best to protect
this area and the plants, also placing their rubbish in the bins.
