Learning is a life long activity and
we believe science is one way to provide students with the skills
and determination to be an active learner all their lives.
The junior science courses at the
school provided integrated topics covering specialist areas
including biology, chemistry, physics geology and astronomy. Topics
are designed and sequenced to ensure all students are provided with
a firm basis on which to build further study and/or make informed
choices in their lives.
A
feature
of junior science in the school is student portfolios. These
provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their learning
in an independent way which leads to the developed of organizational
skills and a responsibility for their own learning. The middle
school science courses encourage independent learning and interest
through a special student research project.
Students in all courses 7-12 access
and use appropriate technology including data loggers, computer
programs and simulations.
