The Hospitality Curriculum Framework is designed to enable students
to acquire a range of technical, personal, interpersonal and
organisational skills and to develop key competencies valued both
within and beyond the workplace. Students will also acquire
underpinning skills and knowledge related to functional areas within
the hospitality industry. Through study of this framework, students
will gain experience that can be applied to a range of contexts,
including work, study and leisure. Study within this framework will
also assist students in making informed career choices.
Certificate I is an entry-level employment qualification, designed
to reflect the role of entry-level employees who perform routine
tasks under direct supervision. It is recommended by industry that
training commence at Certificate I level.
Certificate II is designed to reflect the role of hospitality
employees who perform a range of activities and functions requiring
basic operational knowledge and limited practical skills in a
defined context. They may be multi-skilled across more than one
functional area of hospitality.
Certificate III is designed to reflect the role of hospitality
employees who perform a range of skilled operations with the need to
apply discretion and
judgement.

Work placement is a mandatory HSC
requirement of each course within this framework and the required
hours have been assigned to the work placement requirement for each
course.
