Commerce is a useful
and relevant subject. Commerce teaches young people how to be wise
consumers. Students are taught how to look after their money by
making the best choices. This subject teaches students how to avoid
being ripped off and about the legal rights and responsibilities of
consumers.
Students also study law and government. Topics would include the
Australian Constitution, the Republican Debate and \how governments
are elected. Student learn how laws are made and what happens in a
courtroom.
In Year 10 students
study the world of work and look at some of the things which that
have to consider when they join the workforce. Also in Year 10,
students are taken through the process of making a major purchase
such as buying a new car or used car.
As part of this
course, students will visit a local business and learn what makes a
business successful.
Commerce provides
students with useful skills for day to day living.
